Cello Lessons In Evanston, Il

Victor Sotelo, Cellist Victor Sotelo, Cellist

The goal of my studio is for the student to leave each lesson a better cellist than when he or she arrived and to provide the necessary practice tools to implement new ideas at home. This will be accomplished through scale work, etudes appropriate for the level of the pupil and carefully selected solo pieces to increase understanding of all musical elements.

I am currently continuing my cello studies with Prof. Hans Jorgen Jensen at Northwestern University.

If you would like a trial lesson or would like to request information regarding lesson length, fees and payment policies, see the link below or please call (847)903-8679 or Email.

My Background

I am a graduate of Northwestern School of Music in 2007, and I have been fortunate to attend Meadowmount School of Music, Kneisel Hall, Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, Boston University Tangelwood Insitute, and the International School for Musical Arts.

I graduated from Dupont Manual High School/Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, Ky as a piano major. My primary cello teacher was Julia Preston of the Louisville Orchestra . During that time, I was a 3 time finalist of the Louisville Orchestra Young Artist Competition and performed the Dvorak Cello concerto as the 2002 winner, as well as winning first prize with the Milano Trio in the Macauley Chamber Music Competition. Additionally, I benefited from my experience as a Sphinx Competition semifinalist (2000-2002) and received the award for best tone in 2002. The Sphinx organization provided the opportunity to attend summer music schools.

In 2002-03 I was fortunate to coach under the Pacifica Quartet and competed in the Fischoff competition. I also participated as a finalist in ARTS Week and performed by invitation at the American Cello Congress as an American String Teachers Solo Competition Finalist.
